Are you an enthousiastic student with an interest in Russia, studying at one of the participating universities? An internship at the NIP could be an option for you.

Internship

Every year, the institute offers internship positions to active students from the participating universities. Knowledge of Russian is an asset. During the internship you will develop your general language and communication skills at a professional level, obtain an insight in the tasks and activities of an organization representating the Netherlands in Russia and you will gain experience in the organization of several activities.

Internship possibilities

  • 8 weeks (280 hours), 10 ECTS, 800 euro
  • 10 weeks (336 hours), 12 ECTS, 1000 euro
  • 12 weeks (280 hours), 15 ECTS, 1200 euro

The internship period is negotiable. Flexible internship options are possible in consultation with the student. ECTS credits will be awarded by the host university, on the basis of an internship agreement between the NIP and the faculty.

Internship activities and financial compensation

You will carry out translation work, collect and process information, assist during events, coordinate study trips and help out at other activities. You are also expected to propose a research project related to your studies. The financial compensation mentioned above is the total amount, which will be transferred to the Dutch bank account of the intern in two equal amounts during the internship. Travel costs will not be reimbursed. It is possible to apply for financial compensation for travel costs through the host university.

Are there no free internship positions or do you have an insufficient knowledge of Russian?

It is also possible to intern at the NIP or a Russian partner organization of the NIP (for example the Hermitage) with partial financial assitance or without financial compensation at all. In these cases, the NIP can act as the formal internship supervisor. To students with insufficient or no knowledge of Russian, the NIP offers thesis supervision and other facilities. When a internship position remains open, also applications of non-Russian speakers can be considered.

Just graduated?

Recent graduates (until one year after finishing their studies) can also be considered for an internship (with financial compensation) at the NIP for a period of 1 to 3 months. This type of internship is only possible if there are enough available places at the NIP.
